Message from the Head of School

At DKJA, we pride ourselves on an environment that encourages students to show respect to one another, and one that is rich in Jewish values. Development of leadership skills is an integral part of this. Being respected and respectful are important aspects of leadership and Jewish values.

Today, I am proud to report that 16 DKJA students (eight middle school and eight high school, shown at left and below) participated in the Girls Going Places Entrepreneurship and Leadership Conference.

Approximately 100 girls from western Palm Beach County and surrounding areas at the Boca Raton Campus of Palm Beach Community College. This annual conference is designed to mentor and educate teen girls about entrepreneurship, the advantages of business ownership, and the concepts of achieving financial independence. Participants will meet professionals from a wide array of fields and get a glimpse into what is involved in being an independent business person. The girls will take part in many individual and interactive team exercises designed to infuse business acumen and build knowledge.

The following students attended: Shiri Zweibel, Hila Sachs, Cortney Dable, Brenda Berez, Suzann Cayne, Liana Greenberg, Stacey Berkowitz, Jackie Liebovich, Bryn Berkowitz, Talia Statsky-Frank, Jillian Widensky, Zoe Chaitoff, Rachel Oren, Melanie Berkowitz, Mayan Sachs, and Ali Paul.

Special thanks to their chaperones, Middle School Guidance Counselor Sydney Siegel, and High School Guidance Counselor Helena Levine.

Mazel Tov, and Shabbat Shalom!
Karen Feller
Head of School

Eighth-graders Create Special Projects

Eighth-grade Judaic Studies classes had an opportunity to creatively depict a Jewish concept or symbol in either a diorama, collage, or 3D format and describe its significance in their lives.  Some of the themes chosen were “Introspection,” the Sukkah, “The Four Species,” “Symbolic Foods,”  “Tashlich,” and “Rambam’s Eight Levels of Charity.” Please stop by the middle school corridor to see their beautiful work!
